Is that purple liquid on the ground supposed to be blood? Kinda odd to censor it in that way…

Argus seemed pretty sus to me. I know it was made to look like he saved Nick from that thug, but the conversation heard from within the carriage seems to suggest that Nick’s parents were actually betrayed and killed by him, unless I’m overthinking.

Pretty unsatisfying place to leave off the season if I’m being honest. We got no confrontation with Argus nor answers regarding why he decided to kick Nick out of the party all of a sudden after apparently having taken him in and raised him for years (unless what he said in the first episode really was all there was to it), and the Carios plotline remains unresolved as well. I know there isn’t much that can be covered within the span of a single episode and the source material is probably ongoing, but this conclusion just felt kinda aimless with nothing really resolved.

Also, I found that transition from sunset to night unintentionally hilarious. It all happened within the span of a few seconds in a single shot. xD

Overall, a concept that had some potential, hampered by some very awkward and clearly low-budget production.

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

I'm in agreement that Argus killed his parents, hearing Nick's mother's words seemed like a clear suggestion that was what happened.

Lol yeah that transition was so noticeable, it didn't look smooth at all.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Same here on the very same thought.

bruh I thought you only use 9 anime but your here too!

Right? It's like they know they are running out of time so they just sped up the sunset lol

made in heaven the sunset

This anime was one of if not the biggest letdowns of the season. I liked the story idea, character set up but then things went downhill and never got better. Background of who killed Nick's parents? Nah but we got background episodes for all sorts of "one and done" characters that we never cared about. All I can say is I stuck with this to the end and no, I'm not really proud of that.

Shinketsu aka Craty • 1 year ago

yeah, tbh, a labyrinth town with adventurers and then there are idols and idk what else ?!
it all seems a bit too mixed up for my taste, and when we're already at the taste, who was the girl in the end on the top right after curran and fifs to the left ?! o_O

ala • 1 year ago

if it follow the manga instead it may be better and i highly doubt this will get 2nd season

Dbz Directioner • 1 year ago

Yeah I also think that Argus was the one who killed Nick's Parents. And about the issues that you mentioned I also would have liked if they would have been the focus of the story. Atleast if the Whole Carios situation should have been solved, that would have been great.

Gabre • 1 year ago

My assumption about Argus is that he had no idea there was a kid on board and when he found out it blue him away to the point of him changing his entire life right on the spot.

Youd on't usually expect merchants or whatever they were to be having their kid with them

Shinketsu aka Craty • 1 year ago

Nah, the kid (nick) literall said he got "pat on the head" when they visited them before... probably they got something on their hands which they shouldn't have had in the first place, and in the end they got their punishment for being too nosy or 'stealy' in the first place . . .

Satoshi Ookami • 1 year ago
betrayed and killed by him

Yea, pretty sure she said 'uragitta' which is betray, not saved like the translation incorrectly said.

SkyNatsu • 1 year ago

Yeah Argos did kill them

Byno • 1 year ago

I knew Argos was a shady company all along XD

I honestly felt nothing in this anime, felt completely blank.
Edit: at last it says long long time until they'll save the world! bruh every anime's plot will be completed by then and finally they'll save the world or something............??? .

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

I quite agree.
Where they ended this was a bit good but meh and leaves aftertaste in the mouth.

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Nicks parents getting rekt as merchants remind me of that knockoff Satelizer Ryza alchemist anime whose parents also died to bandits.

Lord • 1 year ago

This is true.

SKYFADE • 1 year ago

Yep and I hope Nick will find out about it soon

Ob/Gyn Kenobi • 1 year ago

I agree that this had a lot of potential and I really liked it. It feels like a couple of the better D&D campaigns I've been in (early on), and yet it didn't quite measure up... yet.

The description says it's not over yet, though I don't know how long it's going on for. This has a lot of promise if it keeps going, but I just say that this episode felt like a big nothing burger.

GundamGoku • 1 year ago

Yeah I brought this up last week. The Stepping man detour really hampered this story, as did the budget. Everything else was pretty good. This episode also did the thing where they acknowledge that they were forgetting things. Which is not great. I doubt this gets a second season. As compelling a concept as it was, the execution wasn't the best.

ThatOneOddGuy • 10 months ago

will there be a s2?

Judgment526 • 10 months ago

Probably not.

You do realize that it's a dark scene with blue floor. What do you get when you mixed shade with blue and red?

Apparently, Disillusioned Adventurers Will Save the World

It's funny how the show itself acknowledges how clickbaity the name is by putting it in the last episode's episode name. The show started with an interesting premise but the fact that all of them were betrayed never goes beyond their sopping back stories and some revenge arcs. The show fell back to the generic power-of-friendship trope as fast as episode 4. After that, it just kept repeatedly showing the character's backstory one after another while disregarding the actual story.

Actually, I don't even know whether it has one, to begin with.

The world doesn't seem to be in any immediate danger to be saved. And, no, throwing the 'the demon god is resurrecting' card at the last episode barely makes any difference. The characters' objectives seem to be all fulfilled after each revenge arc. I don't even know why should I follow it any further.

The animation quality is just in the passing grade while some episodes are downright terrible (remember that staircase scene?). Fight scenes are full of statics and sliding. Every battle ends with Nick fusion with another character while the others just stand there uselessly. It's so predictable and boring.

Overall, it's as mediocre as it can be. The interesting premise went down the drain due to the author's inability to further explore it. 5/10 is the score.

4/10, don't trust humans, but trust everyone in the next bar xD

Source LN only has 5 volumes, and the latest one actually isn't out yet--it publishes in two days.

Chances are this will suffer the fate that a lot of series do-- the anime becomes a sacrifice for the sake of boosting novel sales

Enve Me • 1 year ago

its not a sacrifice when its the whole point of 90% of all anime... promo for the written source

Kwarevo • 1 year ago

The end of people who don't trust other people and team up become survivors end

SKYFADE • 1 year ago

Yup they dont believe in humanity because of being betray
This anime has a lesson for not trusting easily on everyone
Even your friends or family
The only one you can trust is yourself and God

vovan1 • 1 year ago

edit: Also don't trust god

Religions all committed HIGH-TREASON by teaching falsities.

Spirituality gets much closer to what is truthful, but, even then, amongst mis-guided spiritualists are also these cult «Ascended Masters» believers, who, falsely, believe & insist that «paying off karmic-debt through suffering» requires «re-incarnating» into an earth-life, but, were that truly to be the case, then, from its very own premise, that would define the earth-life as the only «hell» when it is believed to be the only existence within which one could experience «suffering» (everywhere else by definition would have to be considered a veritable «heaven» should it be the case that «suffering» cannot be experienced anywhere else other than an earth-life).

How-ever, the reality is that «suffering» continues on even in realms of spirit, resulting in such phenomenon as the «tormented spirits» amongst other things that I am not even going to bother to attempt to describe here, for, most «mortals» are unable to even fathom such notions anyway, naïvely believing that this material-universe is all there is to existence, even though this particular physical-dimension is actually naught but a grain of sand of a greater reality (and, what are called «dreams» are in fact, not mere hallucinations during sleep-time, but, a «token» of that greater-reality)...

vovan1 • 1 year ago

Yes, let's dream together xD

That bitch don't know shit, can't trust him, either.

In the end, it's just God, I guess.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

In the end this show started with a ok premise but the story led to nowhere.

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

there was a story in this anime? XD
i mean this was so boring, i even forgot about most of the chars names (Even main ones, like the mage girl and the sword). Well i wont say that it was a bad anime, but clearly no good one either. And when in the end they said "they wont save the world for a long, long time" i felt like "seriously? You're gonna need a lot more seasons for that? no way, that i ever continue watching this"

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

True but the overall storyline of these could have been better though. And this's not worst we've seen. XD

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

oh yeah, we saw way worse than this. i gave this anime a 5/10

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Yeah worst being Fruits of Evol 2 XD

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

at least the worst in this season XD.
while i somewhat enjoyed the trash parody in s1, i dropped s2 midway in ep 1. It was just unbearable.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

True dat XD

Synchro • 1 year ago

Read the manga. That is basically episode 1 to 8 extended with more interactions, better executed action scenes and more context. It would be an easy season 1 if they adapted that which also promotes the light novel.

OLivia reminder me of c.c but more cuter love her appear as closing episode of the anime

ChosenOneX • 1 year ago

This series had potential. I actually liked it at the beginning – I enjoyed the characters, their backstories, and the premise seemed interesting, but in the end I was disappointed. Though the plot about the Stepping Man was not the worst, it couldn’t fix what’s already been done. I have no idea why the author thought that introducing a bajillion of characters who have somehow been hurt by others was a good idea. It wouldn’t be that bad if those characters were relevant – but they were not. After they appeared, you forgot they even existed. Why waste a whole episode on Agate’s backstory, for example? I mean, she was a nice character, but that backstory was irrelevant. What I wanted to see was the story of the main characters. I'd, for example, like to see more of Curran.

As I said, the Stepping Man arc wasn’t all that bad. I quite enjoyed Olivia, who is a pretty nice and fun character, and she gave a bit of life to the already dying anime.

To sum it all – this story had potential, and if done well, it could’ve been really nice. But most of that potential was, sadly, wasted. Though it wasn’t the worst anime I’ve seen, I can’t say I enjoyed it. Though if there is a 2nd season, which may come, because of the ending scene, I might give it a try to see if the story gets better. So yeah, I think I’m gonna rate this one – 5.5/10.

strange guy • 1 year ago

It’s kinda meh

arra1213 • 1 year ago

yeah fantasy anime the revolves around quest quest are meh this past few years maybe because the genre is oversaturated
